Yes, that IS correct. Normally, people say to use tape. It makes sense: tape peels off easily and can keep your finger-flesh free of nail polish. But. What it cannot do is get in the crevasses ... tape cannot be applied with a brush (it sticks to your fingers!) ... And tape is more expensive considering how far a container of glue will go!
This is perfect for nail marbling, by the way ...
